Hayle Canoe Club Operating Procedures

 

Keys

  • Keys to the club are held by all coaches and Committee Members.
  • The last person, who holds a key, must ensure all doors are locked and secure.
  • Spare keys are held by the chairman.

Equipment

  • All one, two and three star candidates can use club equipment, the rental fee is included in the course fee.
  • All other club members may use club equipment for a rental fee (see Treasurer).
  • All rental equipment removed from club area must be booked out and signed for on relevant forms.
  • The Gear Steward must be notified of any faults or repairs.
  • Kayaks are to be stored in designated racks.
  • Paddles in paddle rack.
  • Helmets in boxes provided.
  • Buoyancy aids and spray decks on designated hooks.
  • All equipment may be hired to outside groups if agreed and costed by Committee.

Emergency Procedures

  • Fire Procedure - refer to Safety Policy
  • In the event of a serious accident/incident, club members should not discuss any aspect with the media or admit liability.
  • All accidents to be recorded in Accident Book, an Incident Form to be completed and forwarded to the BCU. Chairman to be notified as soon as possible.
  • All members and everyone attending a course organised by Hayle Canoe Club must complete a Health Declaration Form and ensure appropriate coach has relevant information regarding any medical condition.
  • Emergency contact numbers will be available at the club in the event of accident.

Club Courses

  • All coaches must follow BCU guidelines regarding Health and Safety.
  • All course attendees must be able to swim 25metres.
  • DO NOT leave valuables in changing rooms.
  • Coaches must always give Safety briefings before courses.
  • Coaches are to carry Safety kit within BCU guidelines.
  • All coaches will be issued copies of club Safety Policy and Emergency Procedures.
  • Coaches must be aware of any individuals medical condition within his/her group and account for any special needs.
  • If problems are encountered on courses the Chairman/Committee must be informed as soon as possible.
  • One, two and three star courses will be provided by the club.
  • Four star courses, Canoe Safety Test, First Aid, Level 2 and Level 3 Coach and Coaching Processes Courses can all be arranged.
  • All clothing to be appropriate to course and conditions but must include helmet and buoyancy aid. (ie windproof top, firm shoes etc.)
